I’ve been hiding from myself and the world for a while now. In my early days as an author, I totally thought I had the world by the tail, and I thought I knew what I was doing! But life offered me some huge setbacks that taught me a lot of important lessons, and so this time around, I’m moving forward differently.
I’m always going to be a fiction author first — and my debut novel, Hurricane Season, is still very important to me. But the platform for this blog is to give me a place to jump back into what I started with my first book and to offer me a place to launch into this new kind of storyteller I’ve become. So “this little site of mine” is helping me get my content back into the world in lots of different ways!
Cheat Sheet:
To help you cut to the chase, I want to give you a bit of a cheat sheet on me:
- I’m in my late (late) 40’s, and I live in Sonoma, California with my husband of nearly 20 years, Lou Zant.
- Because it will probably matter, I will also tell you this: Lou is 20 years older than me…
- Lou is in the wine industry and has a podcast called Major Crush. Wine is a huge part of our daily lives, and the best part of all is that the world of wine is full of amazing stories!
- I have a very pronounced need to clean things, and I’m incredibly devoted to Tide Original laundry detergent.
- For the past decade, doing laundry has been such an important part of my mental process — hence all of the images of me in the laundromat!
- I have no pets, but Lou keeps mentioning how much he “needs” a dog. (It’s not true, though. He’s fine for now.)
- I have two stepsons who are grown men (and who probably won’t be excited to be mentioned on my blog — so out of respect for them, this is all I will say!)
- I’m still kind of a mess in my personal life — although my clothes are very clean, and many of my life lessons are still a struggle — but, I’m starting this blog anyway!
So now that you know the basics about me, I’ll just let you dive in.
